Instruction to Authors
Journal of Epidemiology and Infection Biology accepts all the manuscripts and communications on the understanding that these have not been published nor are being considered for publication elsewhere.
JEPIBIO covers all the aspects of biomedicine (including human medicine), veterinary medicine (including fisheries/wildlife), zoonotic diseases, plant sciences, and other related subjects. JEPIBIO will also include mathematical models related to infectious diseases and their related aspects of disease prediction. It also includes agent-based models that consider comparison of public health policies with underlying real-world conditions. Furthermore, JEPIBIO provides special emphasis to infectious disease research and methods that contribute to the understanding of Infection Biology.
Type of publications
Journal of Epidemiology and Infection Biology accepts all the following types of scientific publications:
- Full length articles
- Short Communications
- Systematic Review Articles
- Meta-Analysis
- Case Series/Case Reports
- Unique developed methodologies/Software
General Instructions
Manuscripts written in the English language will be only be accepted. All the manuscripts must be in Microsoft Word format (.docx, .doc) typed on double line spacing on A-4 size with 2.54 cm margin on all sides. All the manuscripts must be carefully checked for typographic mistakes and spell checks. Template files (in .dotx format) for preparation are available to download as helping guide.
Submitted manuscripts are subjected to check for Similarity Index (by applying appropriate software) with the published papers in different journals and various internet sources. If the Similarity Index is more than 19%, manuscript is liable to be rejected. On the other hand, the use of Artificial intelligence should not be more than 5%.
This journal follows the double-blinded review process. Therefore, the manuscript should be split into a separate title page file containing all the information related to authors and manuscript file with no information related to authors.
- TITLE PAGE
This file must contain only the manuscript title and authors’ names and addresses indicating the corresponding author along with email IDs of all authors/co-authors. Manuscript title should be brief and relevant to the study. The title should be written in uppercase and lowercase letters, not all uppercase. Full names of authors are preferred in the author field. Avoid writing long formulas with subscripts in the title; short formulas that identify the elements are fine (e.g., “Nd–Fe–B”). Do not write “(Invited)” in the title. To get the TEMPLATE file, click here.
- MANUSCRIPT
Manuscript file should contain manuscript title and the manuscript that must contain the essentials of the report that reflect the contents accurately. There should be no author’s names or their affiliations mentioned in this file. All the manuscript should be written in Times New Roman with the size of 10. All the pages should have continuous line numbers. To get the TEMPLATE file, click here.
Abstract: The abstract must be a concise yet comprehensive reflection of what is in your article. In particular, the abstract must be self-contained, without abbreviations, footnotes, or references. It should be a microcosm of the full article. The abstract should not exceed 350 words. Be sure that authors adhere to these limits; otherwise, they will need to edit their abstract accordingly. The abstract must be written as one paragraph, and should not contain displayed mathematical equations or tabular material. The abstract should include FIVE different keywords or phrases, as this will help readers to find it. It is important to avoid over-repetition of such phrases as this can result in a page being rejected by search engines. Ensure that abstract reads well and is grammatically correct.
Introduction: Introduction should be concise, to the point, and must explain clearly the objectives of the study by giving essential background in content to relevant literature. The introduction will explain the topic of study in a manner that reader from any background can understand the need and objectives of the study. Furthermore, sentences should be explained with facts and figures and merely general statements should be avoided.
Materials and Methods: This section must explicitly describe the materials used, the analytical techniques followed and procedures employed for the data analysis. When using the standard method, provide a complete reference. In case a modified method has been applied, then the modification must be elaborated. The year and place of study must be indicated. Experimental design (if applicable) and statistical techniques employed for data analysis must be mentioned clearly. This section can be divided into subheadings if needed.
Results: This section may be divided by subheadings. It should provide a concise and precise description of the experimental results, their interpretation, as well as the experimental conclusions that can be drawn. The results should be concisely presented using tables and figures. The same data may not be used in both. Appropriate statistical data should be given.
Discussion: Authors should discuss the results and how they can be interpreted from the perspective of previous studies and of the working hypotheses. The findings and their implications should be discussed in the broadest context possible. Future research directions may also be highlighted. Discussion must be developed logically in a proper sequence and should cover the implications and consequences not merely recapitulating the results.
Supplementary Materials: The supplementary materials should be provided where necessary. If the supplementary materials are being provided then please add the table numbers and figure numbers here with the addition of prefix “Supplementary”.
Declaration of Competing Interest: The authors declare that they have no competing or conflict of interests.
Author Contributions: This section must contain TWO things: (1) Names of authors (as mentioned in sequence) and their contribution in relevant sections e.g. Conceptualization, Methodology, formal analysis, Writing—original draft preparation and writing—review and editing. First Author: Conceptualization, Methodology, formal analysis, Writing—original draft preparation. Second Author: Conceptualization, Methodology, formal analysis, Writing—original draft preparation. Third Author: Conceptualization, Methodology, formal analysis, writing—review and editing. (2) Authors must mention this statement that “All authors have read and agreed to the published version of the manuscript”. This statement ensures that all the authors have been informed and showed their concern in publishing with JEPIBIO.
References:
References must be numbered in order of appearance in the text (including citations in tables and legends) and listed individually at the end of the manuscript. Include the digital object identifier (DOI) for all references where available. JEPIBIO recommends preparing the references with a bibliography software package, such as EndNote, Reference Manager or Zotero to avoid typing mistakes and duplicated references. An ENDNOTE Style file has been attached to assist the authors in preparing the references section. To download the ENDNOTE style file, click here.
Text Citation: For citation of reference in text, authors should follow the “name-year” system. In case of multiple citations appear at one point, references should be listed chronologically. If there is one author, last name of the author along with year should be mentioned e.g. Ahmed, 2001. In case of only two authors, last names of both authors should be mentioned along with year e.g. Zahid and Doe, 2013. In case of 3 or more authors, last name of only first author with “et al” (italic with no punctuations) should be mentioned along with year e.g. Nathan et al., 2002.
References/Bibliography: List all references cited in the manuscript text under the heading References in alphabetical order by the authors’ surname or last name. Authors must ensure the references section include all the cited references. JepiBio follows the bibliographic style as per examples mentioned here:
- Bibliographic style must mention author or authors’ names, Year of publication; Title of paper/book; FULL name of journal; Volume (issue number); inclusive pages. For books and proceedings, name of publisher and location is needed.
- Authors names list must should be separated by “,” except the last author that should be separated by “and”.
- Year of publication should be in the brackets.
- Title of publication should use italics for scientific names. Authors are discouraged to use abbreviations unless needed.
- Standard full names of journal should be used.
- Several papers by the same author and same year must be followed by a, b, c, etc. after the year.
- The use of standard abbreviations is preferred.

Figures – These should be kept minimum. Figures should be prepared with 300 dpi. Image formats such as .png, .jpeg, .jpg, .svg are only accepted. Figures should be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals e.g. Fig. 3. Captions should describe the contents so that each illustration is understandable. Figures must be embedded within the text at appropriate places.
Tables – Number tables consecutively throughout the manuscript with Arabic numerals. All numbered tables must be referred to in the text. The table should be few in number, carefully designed, uncrowded containing only essential data. Keep column headings and descriptive matter brief and do not use vertical rules between columns. Only tables that complement the text, rather than duplicate it, will be accepted. Keep tables to a reasonable size. Large tables should be divided into components. Tables must be embedded within the text at appropriate places.
Acknowledgments, if any, should precede references.
In general, strive for a clear straightforward style that shapes up only from an imaginative use of precise, intelligible language. Keep up the literary tone of the presentation, but not at the cost of brevity and clarity.
Review process
Journal of Epidemiology and Infection Biology strictly adheres to its peer review policy. Selection of reviewer will be largely based on area of the research and no conflict of interests. As and when the manuscript is submitted successfully, an automated manuscript ID is generated and communicated to the corresponding author. Journal follow double blind review policy. The journal’s management will try to get the submitted manuscript reviewed as early as possible. Usually, reviewers are requested to complete the review as early as possible; however, delay in the review process will not be on the part of JepiBio management.
