Editorial Policies
Journal of Epidemiology and Infection Biology (JEPIBIO) follow “Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing”(available at the DOAJ Website) identified by The Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), DOAJ, the Open Access Scholarly Publishing Association (OASPA), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).
Editorial Policy of JEPIBIO is as follow:
Editorship: Editors (Editor in Chief, Editorial Advisory Board or member of the Editorial Board) are established researchers in the subject area and actively handle the peer-review process. They are bound to maintain best possible publication ethics. Peer review process follow guidelines to maintain quality of publications and integrity of scholarly literatures published in this journal.
Confidentiality: Editors shall only access the submitted manuscripts for evaluation of quality and peer-review process. They shall not disclose any contents (full or partial) in any media (electronic or print) before the publication of the material or without prior written consent of the authors. Any idea or concept generated through the submitted manuscript shall not be used for personal benefits or financial gain.
Evaluation of Manuscripts: Editors will assess the contents only on the basis of their scientific merit and contribution to current knowledge, regardless of any gender, ethnicity and on any other personal or commercial interests.
Influence and conflicts: The independence of editorial decision will not be affected by any offering of the publisher and will also be free of commercial or organizational interests. All the authors should disclose the conflict of interests. Editors shall not consider any submitted manuscript for the review process himself/herself where there is conflict of interests.
Flexibility and Cooperation: Editors are required to ensure the ethical standards. To improve the quality of publications, they could consider retractions, rectifications, and erratum and cooperate with authors.
Accountabilities: In case of suspicion of misconduct/malpractice/unethical act, publisher shall investigate the matter promptly in agreement with authors.
Peer Review Policy:
Reviewers: Reviewers play crucial role in peer-review process and shaping the quality of publications.
Peer Review Type: This journal will follow the double-blinded review process which is clearly mentioned in the Author’s guidelines.
Selection of Reviewers: Reviewers are selected on the basis of their expertise to the contents of articles.
Pre-acceptance Obligations: Reviewers are instructed to only accept to review the manuscript when:
- The scope of the research
- Study falls within his/her areas of expertise
- They have sufficient time to submit the report timely
Conflict of Interest and Willingness: Reviewers shall decline to review the manuscript if there is any conflict of interest or they are unable to submit the evaluation in time.
Confidentiality: Reviewers shall not disclose any contents before the publication of the material. As the Journal follows the double-blind peer review process, so the reviewer will not be aware of the authors and their affiliations.
Review Standards: Reviewers are requested to comments on scientific contents, appropriateness of the study and value of the outcome. All the comments on competing interests, duplication of publication, unethical practice or dubious act shall be conducted to the managing separately.
Reviewer’s Reports: Reviewers are requested to evaluate manuscripts based upon:
- Originally and novelty of the work
- Sound methodology
- Adherence to ethical guidelines
- Results presentation
- Collegiality between results and conclusions
- Citation of appropriate previous work
- Clarity and language standards
Editorial Decision: Editor’s decision include comments from reviewers, editorial concerns, editor’s comments and instructions to submit revisions if applied. The interested reviewers are then sent the revised manuscripts to approve or reject the revision made by the author. All contributions are subjected to editorial revision. Editorial Board/ Editor’s decision regarding manuscript acceptance/ rejection will be final and can’t be challenged anywhere.
Copyright Policy:
The copyright of manuscripts accepted for publication belongs to Journal of Epidemiology and Infection Biology. However, authors and other users are allowed an open license (Creative Commons) for immediate free access to the published work and are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose.
Plagiarism Policy:
Submitted manuscripts are subjected to check for Similarity Index (by applying appropriate software) with the published papers in different journals and various internet sources. If the Similarity Index is more than 19%, manuscript is liable to be rejected. On the other hand, the use of Artificial intelligence should not be more than 5%.
